Abstract
The marquisate of el Cenete was a prominent focus of the military pressures of the war in the Alpujarras. This gave the castle of La Calahorra a leading role as a strategic bastion for the Christian forces. Notwithstanding, its involvement in the hostilities antedates the actual rebellion.
