Graena and Cortes in the Survey of the Marquis of La Ensenada

Abstract

With the accession of the house of Borbón to the Spanish throne at the beginning of the 18th century, there comes a period of reforms, among them the Marquis of la Ensenada’s inquiry. The source throws light on landed property and urban real estate in Spain at that time. The sections on these two towns are revealing of the social and economic situation there in 1753.
