Abstract
Captains Pedro and Cristóbal Peláez de Acuña, who lived between the 16th and 17th centuries, were originally from the city of Huéscar and held military posts in the Tercios of Lombardy in the service of the Spanish Habsburgs. Different generations of this family resided in various parts of Spain, especially in the Guadix region and in Italy, for example, Cristóbal Peláez de Acuña, lieutenant field master and governor of Tortona in Milan. The trajectory of many of its members reflects the history and society of their time.
